Our client, one of the five leading Canadian banks, is looking for a Service Officer (Banking) to join our Toronto team for 6-months contract!

Pay Rate: $17.34/hr
Contract Duration: 6 months (with the possibility of extension)
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm

Job Summary: The main function of a Service Officer is to operate data entry devices, such as a keyboard or computer, to verify and input data. We process physical cheques, mutual funds, Canadian and US stocks coming in from other external banks. Also responsible for opening bulk mail, logging items, distributing mail accordingly, and reconciling total volume of mail/cheques received for the floor. The candidate will also be on the phone and updating tickets & spreadsheets, ensuring everything is memo-ed on the Bank’s system. A typical Service Officer is responsible for accurate information documentation and personal project management. Technical skills include documentation skills and time management.

Job Responsibilities

  • Read source documents such as canceled checks, transfer forms, and enter data in specific data fields
  • Compile, sort and verify the accuracy of data before it is entered
  • Locate and correct data entry errors, or report them to supervisors
  • Compare data with source documents, or re-enter data in verification format to detect errors
  • Maintain logs of activities and completed work

Job Requirements:

  • 2 to 4 years of previous experience as an Operations Officer or similar administrative experience
  • Excellent communication/telephone etiquette (previous call centre experience an asset)
  • Ability to multitask and manage one’s time
  • Demonstrate a team player, positive attitude
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Computer savvy with Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Strong keyboarding skills – with speed and accuracy (successful completion of data entry test may be required)
  • Post-Secondary education is required (Bachelor's degree is an asset)
  • Banking experience is an asset
  • Bilingual skills (English and French) is a plus
