Our client, a leading banking institution, is looking for Seasonal Associate, Drafts & Client Services to join their team for a 3 month contract!

Opportunity Number: 62403
Location: Downtown Toronto - Bay Street @ Wellington Street West
Pay Rate: $16.25/hour (paid weekly) + 4% accrued vacation pay
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, rotating 8 hour shifts between 8:45am and 6:00pm
Contract Duration: 3 months 

Department Summary:

Drafts & Client Services is responsible for the management of the international drafts, CAD dollar and foreign currency issued drafts via the TFX system against the drafts reported as paid on the Symcor transmission file and foreign currency Correspondent Bank statements. Our departments mandate is to oversee that paid exceptions are handled within the time limitation set by Canadian Payments Association (CPA) Clearing and foreign Banks Rules and regulations. We provide services to branches on draft related queries such as flagging lost/stolen/destroyed, paid copies. On an annual basis, we provide reporting to CDIC and send dormant draft notices to customers.

Job Summary: The main function of the Operations Officer is confirming transaction details using various methods of confirmation including phone, fax, swift and email.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and timely management and reconciliation of draft accounts by performing prompt investigation on outstanding items, paid exception, and fate of draft requests processed by branches, foreign correspondents
  • Complete transaction processing or other processing activities.
  • Process transactions accurately and on time.
  • Capability to execute processing responsibilities involving:
    • Multiple step transactions, and/or
    • Several systems or applications, and/or
    • A combination of manual and automated environments
  • Familiar with the Canadian Payments Association Clearing rules, settlement procedures relating to transactions with foreign correspondents.
  • Maintain good relationships with partners including follow-up, responding to questions and escalating concerns when necessary
  • Understand and apply bank operating policies and procedures and ensure necessary due diligence and compliance is applied as per existing policies.
  • Meet and where possible contribute to exceeding Service Level Agreements by processing transactions and replying to requests accurately and on time

Job Requirements: 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential.
  • Individual must be a self-starter and results oriented
  • Sound knowledge on the management of international Draft product and associated inbound queries.
  • Sound knowledge on the use of the following applications would be an asset: RCM, Dashboard, Stelink, CIF, GLOBAL, ICE, WebIR, BSI, S3/AFX
  • Sound knowledge in Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Should be highly organized and possess good time management skills, be detailed oriented and able to work in a fast paced environment and have accurate key stroke abilities.
  • Possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational skills.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to change effectively and in a positive way.
  • Sound knowledge in Excel and other MS Office applications

Education/Experience:

  • Experience in a call centre setting is preferred.
  • A degree in Business or Mathematics would be an asset
