Legal Administrative Assistant (Labour and Employment)

Salary up to $60K + Benefits + 3 Weeks' Vacation

Our client, a well-respected law firm with a presence across Canada seeks a Legal Administrative Assistant to support very busy Lawyers in the Labour and Employment department. The successful candidate will provide general administrative support, monitor correspondence and scheduling, and draft and revise documents. If you are an energetic individual with excellent organizational skills and experienced in supporting a busy lawyer, then we would like to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively anticipate the needs of the Lawyers with respect to calendar and meeting management
  • Draft/revise/proofreading legal documents and correspondence
  • Prepare and coordinate materials for meetings/trails
  • Monitor follow-up activities, action items, and materials in advance of meetings
  • Schedule, organize and prepare meeting materials (presentations, reports, etc.)
  • Prioritize and adjust priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Administrative duties such as processing bills, expenses, filing, etc.
  • Coordinate all travel arrangements, including air, hotel, ground transportation and meal reservations

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of executive/administrative experience – with emphasis on Labour and Employment relations
  • Post-secondary education in business or a related field
  • Strong judgement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently
  • Strong ability and knowledge of legal terminology, court rules, and procedures as well as labour and employment terminology
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate in a professional manner with senior executives
  • Outstanding organizational skills with superior attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
