Labour & Employment Legal Assistant
Location: Downtown Toronto
Duration: Temporary with potential to extend
Compensation: Up to $34.00/hr
 
Our client, a well-respected law firm with a presence across Canada, is seeking a Labour & Employment Legal Assistant to join their team! The successful candidate will provide general labour and employment support, monitor calendar scheduling, and draft and revise documents. This is a great opportunity for a high performer who has excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performing full Legal Assistant, clerical, and administrative duties for two lawyers including calendar management
  • Communicating with lawyers and clients
  • Maintaining knowledge of practice and file management policies and procedures
  • Taking instruction, prioritizing incoming work, and managing ongoing tasks and follow through on assignments
  • Organizing and expediting the flow of work
  • Organizing files and client documents and close client files as required
  • Word processing that involves large documents, agreements, resolutions, correspondence, forms, minutes and meeting materials
  • Monitoring deadlines, sending reminders, and assisting lawyers in preparing and filing timely responses to deadlines
  • Assisting in preparation of mediation briefs and appeal records
  • Preparing documents for hearings and assist in preparation for trial
  • Other business-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • University degree in related discipline
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Labour and Employment
  • Strong email and calendar management skills
  • Working knowledge of iManage (Data Management System) and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to prepare correspondence and presentations for an executive level audience
  • Strong attention to detail, discretion and confidentiality with strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Adaptability and resiliency, along with a high degree of professionalism
