Director, Operations (Real Estate)

Salary up to $150,000 + Generous Bonus + Immediate Benefits + Pension Plan + 4 weeks’ vacation


Our client, a leader in the retail real estate industry with holdings across Canada is seeking a Director of Operations for your assigned properties. Based in Toronto, you will execute the strategic plan on a regional basis, reporting to the Head of Asset Management and liaising with cross functional Directors, with a focus on forward-thinking solutions, sustainability and social governance. You will oversee, support and develop a team of General Managers, as well as reviewing and improving their annual property budgets.   • Planning and creating practices to support the strategic plan on a regional basis
  • Work with department heads (Leasing, Lease Administration, Accounting, Construction & Development) to ensure smooth running of operations and execution of strategic plan
  • Act as resource to your group of General Managers, providing support and development
  • Oversee, review and improve annual property budgets with General Managers, including forecast of annual income and expenses
  • Monitor and analyze key financial targets and develop plans for major capital expenditures
  • Tendering and negotiating contracts on a site by site basis as they come up for renewal
  • Travel to properties in Canada and for annual strategy meetings (10% travel)
  • Develop and support new initiatives in relation to sustainability, social governance, and technology to improve properties
  • Support and promote positive tenant relations and provide suggestions for marketing properties to new tenants based on property upgrades



  • 7 to 10 years’ experience in similar role
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in finance or business preferred
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills
  • Strong people management and development skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Business acumen and a strong knowledge of financial statements
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
