Our client, one of the five leading Canadian banks, is looking for a Chargeback Officer to join our Toronto team for a 1-year contract!

Pay Rate: $22.00/hr
Contract Duration: 1-year contract
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm or 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Must have good credit history and clear criminal record

Job Responsibilities:

  • Limit and control non-credit losses by reviewing chargebacks for accuracy, completeness and timelines
  • Minimize potential risks to the bank by proactively identifying and acting on suspicious activity
  • Ensure established processing procedures and practices are followed in reference to chargebacks
  • Meet daily processing levels of chargebacks to satisfy customers
  • Communicate with and provide support to internal and external customers
  • Develop and maintain effective relationship with other Financial Institutions and the bank’s branches/Merchant Services
  • Identify new processes to more effectively contribute to the overall success of the department by reducing non value-add workflow
  • Remain current with internal communication and industry trends
  • Ensure the stablished SLA’s are consistently met by responding in a timely manner to all chargebacks and adjustments, ensuring files are handled using the department’s standard procedures
  • Call merchants to follow up on chargebacks due to disputed transactions assigned
  • Ensure accurate expectations are set for all customers with respect to turn around times and timelines
  • Be able to perform other adhoc requests as required

Job Requirements:

  • 5-7+ years experience as an Operations Officer (or similar role)
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
    Excellent verbal and written communication skill
  • Ability to meet and exceed timelines and Service Level Agreement expectations
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment & efficiently manage workflow
  • Proactive and flexible to work in a changing environment
  • Strong time management skills
  • Knowledge of chargeback, payments, banking, accounting, etc
  • Previous accounting experience within a billing/back office environment


  • Post-secondary degree in a Business or accounting
