Bilingual (French/English) Tax Officer (Banking)

Our Client, a leading Bank of Canada, is looking for a Bilingual (French/English) Tax Officer (Banking) to start immediately.

Hours: 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday – Must be flexible for overtime hours/including rotational Saturdays
Contract: 6 months 
Location: Downtown, Toronto 
Pay Rate: $22.00/hour 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as a resource point for team members on all matters related to mortgages, specifically municipal taxes
  • Act as a support to the manager in the coordination of daily operations
  • Process and organize payments with relevant tax authorities
  • Perform tax adjustments on mortgage payments
  • Communicate with clients on a regular basis if there are any changes to tax on their mortgage payment
  • Communicate with solicitors on any tax arrears as a result of non-payment at closing
  • Handles special requests and complaints from clients; conduct investigations with parties and communicate findings with clients
  • Keep up-to-date with technical and legal aspects of mortgage products
  • Maintain a good relationship with stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Perform any other tasks requested by supervisor

Job Requirements:

  • Must be bilingual – fluent in English and French
  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or any other relevant fields
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in financial services
  • Advanced knowledge of mortgage products and municipal taxes
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer systems (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment with extremely demanding deadlines
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills
