Our client company in public transportation is seeking a Contract Administrator to support the operation of the Project Procurement Section.
Employment - Contract (Full-Time)
Location - Midtown Toronto - Yonge & Davisville area
Rate of Pay - $40 per hour
The Contract Administrator is responsible for coordination of the day-to-day activities associated with contract bidding / award and subsequent administration of high-value contracts involving revenue vehicles, construction, design/build requirements, engineering/architectural consultants, engineered equipment and retail leasing. The Contract Administrator also performs various administrative activities related to the Project Procurement Section's operation.
  • Coordinating and administering the procurement process for pre-qualification of bidders and development of bidder lists for major acquisitions, preparing and processing Request for Information and sole source justification, developing commercial conditions/documentation for bids/proposals and contracts including special commercial condition
  • Liaising and providing guidance to users and staff from own and other internal departments to co-ordinate procurement efforts and maintain schedule requirements; developing appropriate commercial conditions/documentation for bids/proposals and contracts
  • Coordinating and chairing negotiations for sole source and other negotiated contracts
  • Obtaining competitive bids/proposals; completing commercial evaluations, coordinating contract award and execution; preparing and/or assisting in the preparation of reports
  • Attending kick-off and progress review meetings
  • Interpreting contracts and ensuring compliance with contract terms and the requirements of the scope of the work
  • Preparing and processing payment certificates, Change Requests for contract changes and amendments; work plan releases
  • Negotiating acceptable resolution to contract changes and claims, and processing same for management approval
  • Processing contract close-outs and preparing reports on contractor's/consultant's performance; and maintaining contract files
  • Relevant post-secondary education combined with several years of related experience in the procurement of complex technical requirements
  • Accreditation as a Certified Construction Contract Administrator, Certified Professional Purchaser or Certified Public Purchasing Officer is preferred
  • Public Sector Experience
  • Thorough knowledge of procurement and contracting principles and practical experience of procurement processes, methods, practices and contract administration as well as accounting and scheduling principles
  • Effective interpersonal, organizational, multi-tasking, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to co-ordinate efforts of others to accomplish objectives
  • Strong computer skills with good working knowledge computerized applications related to the work
