Senior Property Accountant

Salary between $55,000 - $70,000 + Bonus 

Our client, a leader in the real estate industry, seeks a Senior Property Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will carry out accounting functions including the preparation of reports and analysis detailing financial results. The Senior Property Accountant will establish and maintain accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for business operations. Responsibilities:

·         Prepare monthly reporting package for management/investors including: balance sheet, income statement, bank reconciliations, variance analysis and various accounts reconciliation

·         Assist with quarterly and yearly reporting packages as requested by Property Accounting Manager

·         Assist with period & year-end audit packages as directed by Property Accounting Manager

·         Input journal entries as requested by the Property Accounting Manager

·         Review coding of invoices to ensure accurate posting in general ledger

·         Preparing and maintaining necessary continuity schedules

·         Coordinate and compile yearly operational and capital budgets

·         Record routine journal entries at month-end including gross potential rent, revenue and expense accruals, mortgages and prepaids

·         Other general ledger maintenance as required

·         Other accounting schedules as requested by the Property Accounting Manager

·         Work on special projects as assigned by Senior Management.

Qualifications:

·         Accounting diploma and/or Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration

·         3 + years of Property Accounting experience

·         Working towards accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, or finalist)

·         Excellent MS Office skills (Excel, Power Point, Word)

·         Proficiency with property management and accounting software (Yardi experience is an asset)

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Demonstrates a high degree of integrity, diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality

·         Ability to accurately listen, understand and respond appropriately

·         Self-motivated individual who is proactive, takes initiative, goal and results oriented and work independently without a lot of direction

·         Excellent problem solving capabilities
