Outside Sales Representative, Abrasives – GTA

Salary: Up to $90K OTE, Benefits, Company Car, All Expenses Covered, Home Office Based


Our client is an established manufacturer of abrasives for the manufacturing and industrial sectors. They are seeking an Outside Sales Representative for the Greater Toronto Area. They have existing distributor and end user relationships, selling to manufacturing companies, general contractors, construction trades, and industrial technicians. The company is global in scale but is still privately owned and operated, with a separate Canadian head office of operations.  


  • Reporting to the Managing Director, your role will be to prospect new business potential and continually maintain a solid sales funnel
  • Prospecting, cold calling and building rapport with end user clients in the defined market verticals for your territory
  • Working closely with dealer sales reps and agents to draw sales from end users, to effectively promote products and solutions while providing additional technical support
  • Cultivate existing customer relationships, using strong relationship management skills to ensure a high level of distributor partnerships and end user satisfaction
  • Majority of time will be spent at end-user client sites
  • Managing all aspects of the solutions sales cycle, from estimates, pricing, proposal, delivery, and full use of products within clients’ sites
  • Sales call reports, forecasting and tracking with consistent and accurate updates in the customer relationship management system
  • Understanding local market segmentation differences and challenges, and contributing to the company’s marketing strategies
  • Collaborate with Outside Sales Reps in other territories to maximize sales opportunities
  • Attend trade shows, dealer meetings, and other events as required
  • Researching and keeping up to date on industry trends, providing competitive intelligence to the rest of the division and organization


  • Hugh School Diploma, Post-Secondary education preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial sales experience
  • Strong track record of successfully hunting for new business and closing sales
  • Excellent entrepreneurial and sales abilities with strong commercial drive
  • Exceptional client service, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient computer skills: MS Outlook, and customer relationship management software
  • Must have clean driving record (with Driver’s Abstract presented
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs for product samples
  • Strong organizational skills with analytic and strategic abilities
  • Proactive, ambitious and creative personality with a desire to constantly grow and develop


  • Base salary range of $60,000 – 65,000 (commensurate upon experience)
  • Bonus uncapped monthly commissions (up to $30,000 additional for hitting targets)
  • Full benefits after 3 months
  • Three weeks’ vacation
  • Company car provided with all expenses covered (fuel, insurance, maintenance, 407 transponder)

  • Several accounts will be handed over
  • Some overnight travel required
