Human Resources Manager

Duration: 12-Month Contract
Compensation: Up to $35 per hour

Our client in professional services is looking for a Human Resources Manager to join their HR team for a 12-month temporary contract. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the full-cycle of Human Resources operational activities. Responsibilities
 
Full-cycle of Human Resources operational activities
  • Directing the workflow of direct reports and all employee transactions
  • Managing and troubleshooting HRIS system problems, providing user support, designing complex reports, helping ensure system integrity, writing user documentation, reviewing system upgrades, and conducting user training
  • Coaching and educating employees to ensure that actions and practices follow the legislation, approved guidelines, the collective bargaining agreement, and best practices
  • Preparing various executive level management reports on key HR metrics, including the analysis of current/historical trends.
Payroll and Benefits
  • Administering the wage and salary program by overseeing the processing of compensation changes and staff status changes ensuring the appropriate actions are taken
  • Supervision of data entry for employee changes and all personnel records in order to keep employees files accurate and up to date
  • Overseeing attendance review ensuring timely completion and accuracy of information
  • Working closely with the Payroll Department to ensure properly authorized changes are executed in payroll accurately and in a timely manner
  • Managing pension and benefit plan administration and addressing escalated issues
HR Programs and Administration
  • Overseeing day-to-day human resources support and services
  • Overseeing and ensuring the smooth operations of HR Programs that run throughout the year
  • Responding to employee inquiries and liaising with third-party providers

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of experience in responsible HR positions executing full-cycle HR operational activities and working with all levels across an organization in a fast-paced corporate environment
  • University Bachelor degree in Human Resources, behavioral sciences, or equivalent work experience
  • CHRP/CHRL designation through HRPA is desired
  • Strong experience in pension and benefit plan administration
  • Experience in managing day-to-day operations ensuring proper processes and checks are in place
  • Experience in preparing reports and drafting policies
  • Experience supervising/managing a small team
  • Exposure to a unionized environment and administering a collective agreement is an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience overseeing and managing an HRIS (time and attendance, payroll systems) preferably Dayforce/Ceridian products
  • Comprehensive understanding of compensation and payroll practices
  • Ability to deal effectively with a broad spectrum of HR matters
  • Strong practical knowledge of relevant legislation including ESA, Human Rights and other related legislation/regulations
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Visio)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of current HR trends and best practices
  • Additionally, the successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
