Family Office Accountant

Salary up to $75,000 + 3 Weeks Vacation + Benefits + Pension

Our client, a family office, is seeking an Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate for this position will be involved in providing day-to-day accounting functions. You will be mentored to grow into a role that supports the VP of Investments with investment analysis. If you have strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills with a very high level of attention to detail, then we would like to hear from you!


  • Ensure invoices are properly approved; process cheques; ensure recurring payments are processed
  • Order bank drafts/wires in Canadian and foreign currencies for payment as necessary
  • Account allocation for disbursements
  • Ensure expenses are invoiced to third parties
  • Process deposits to bank account
  • Input of investment transactions into Excel spreadsheets, Sage and preparation of related journal entries
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Assist with year-end adjustments, financial statements and closings
  • File monthly H.S.T. and any other regulatory returns
  • Assist with preparation of monthly management reporting package
  • Analysis of payroll reports prepared by third party
  • Preparation of quarterly invoices between companies within the group
  • Preparation of information required by tax department to prepare corporate tax returns
  • Preparation of supporting documents required for external audit of private foundation, and preparation of annual information return


  • University degree in business or accounting and counts toward CPA designation
  • 3 to 5 years of work experience in an accounting position performing a variety of accounting duties
  • Excellent MS Excel skills, including macros, pivot tables, charts and advanced formulas
  • Knowledge of Sage 300 or comparable accounting software  
  • Foreign exchange and currency conversion experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize between many tasks and meet all deadlines
