Business Development/Outside Sales Representative

Our client, in the Freight Forwarding industry is looking for a an eager and hungry Business Development/Outside Sales Representative to join the team.

The Business Development/Outside Sales Representative will build and cultivate partnerships with new and existing clients, prepare presentations, create quotes and proposals, and offer a high level of service to maintain and strengthen relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve and surpass sales objectives and KPI’s, meeting corporate objectives and specific targets as assigned by management
  • Prospect and identify new business opportunities within an assigned territory base
  • Build and maintain a consistent sales funnel to ensure a steady stream of business
  • Maintain and build on customer relationships, using cold calling, relationship management, exceptional customer service, and strategic sales approaches
  • Prepare proposals and generate quotes to be presented to key decision makers (C-Suite level contacts or Owners)
  • Respond to and address all current customer inquiries and business requirements, providing up to date solutions for their changing needs
  • Understanding local market segmentation differences and challenges, assisting the National Sales Director’s department to identify new opportunities
  • Accurately enter all data into CRM and AS400 systems, with weekly and monthly sales reporting
  • Support internal sales, marketing, and operations stakeholders with campaigns, special projects, and analysis

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Degree, preference for Business or Marketing or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ sales or business development experience in Freight Forwarding/Transportation Logistics sector (Air, Ocean, Land, Brokerage and Warehousing)
  • Ability to confidently present to owners and corporate head office executives alike, with refined communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong technical aptitude, with creative problem solving ability
  • Proficient computer skills: MS Windows, MS Office, ect.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle tight deadlines and to work effectively in an autonomous or team environment
  • Motivated, proactive and flexible work ethic
  • Continuous improvement mentality, Six Sigma certified an asset
