Accounting/Payroll Manager

Salary up to $80,000

The Bagg Group, a leading Canadian-owned and operated staffing and resources firm in the Greater Toronto Area founded in 1971, is seeking an Accounting/Payroll Manager for our internal operation at our downtown Toronto office.  The Accounting/Payroll Manager is an integral part of our leadership team and will work in collaboration with all our business units and company leadership. This position will also provide financial analysis and serve as back-up to the Company Controller.


  • Manage payroll operations and team for all Bagg business units including internal corporate staff, temporary staff and contractors placed by The Bagg Group (400+)
  • Along with business unit managers, set payroll schedule, timelines/deadlines for all units to provide information to payroll for processing
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll on a pay period and on-going basis; responsible for all functions related to payroll, legislation compliance, payroll deductions, payroll reconciliation, 
    garnishees, etc. 
  • Manage year-end procedures including balancing of T4’s, T4 summaries, government remittances, GL balancing, etc.
  • Conduct various payroll audits to ensure accuracy and quality control; work with auditors as required
  • Set guidelines for payroll team and coordinate department workflow
  • Understand company accounting practices and serve as backup to company Controller
  • Prepare and analyze monthly client gross margin report
  • Conduct financial analysis
  • Hire and coach accounting/payroll team and conduct performance reviews
  • Maintain continuous level of engagement between team and all departments
  • Provide and manage processes to support a high degree of customer service 
  • Identify areas for process improvement and efficiencies; provide solutions and recommendations  


  • Degree in Accounting, Business or related field preferred
  • Payroll Management Coursework/Certificate
  • Certified Payroll Manager designation a plus
  • 5 years+ accounting and personnel management experience
  • Experience preparing financial statements is an asset 
  • Excellent understanding of payroll and accounting 
  • Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong relationship management skills, with a focus on internal client management 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
